High Security Safes

Eurovault-Aver-G2-S2-Detail-2If you need to keep a high amount of cash and valuables safe from theft, a high security safe is the best way to do it. Safes are given cash ratings and the higher up the security levels you go the more cash and valuables you can store. Most safes will have a cash rating, but the high security safes will have a far greater resistance to attack. When you get into high security safes like Eurograde safes you will find that they are graded from grade 0 to grade 7.

The cash rating will tell you how much cash you can store in your safe. It’s always 10 times the value for valuables like watches, digital media and documents. A £6,000 cash rated safe will cover you for up to £60,000 in valuables. Always remember though that this is a split so you can’t have £6,000 of cash and then add valuables in your safe too. If you have £3,000 of cash in a £6,000 cash rated safe then you can only store £30,000 worth or valuables.

High security safes are extremely well built and designed to resist attack from all manner of techniques used by professional thieves and safe crackers alike. If you need to secure a large amount of cash or high value valuables then you should consider a high security Eurograde or AiS approved safe.

Safe from attack – EN1143-1, EN1143-2 and EN14450

If you need the highest level of protection then the Eurograde safes are for you. Tested to the prestigious EN1143-1, EN1143-2 and EN14450 tests, these safes are built to withstand the most ferocious of attack. Tested for attack from grinders, gas cutters, drills and other known tools, the Eurograde safes are graded on the time it takes to get into the safe, and then are given certification. The higher the grade the more valuables you can keep in the safe.

A safe with Eurograde certification will have a special plaque (usually found on the inside of the door) to prove its worth. Any safe that has this plaque will offer you the highest level of protection available; grade 7 being the highest possible at this time.

The Association of Insurance Surveyors (AiS)

Many insurance companies (like Aviva) will insist that you buy a specific brand or model of safe in order for you to covered by their policy. Often this is just to make your life and their job easier, but it does limit your choice of safe. Luckily there are a range of safes which have been approved by the AiS that insurance companies will accept. These have been approved by recognised body (the AiS) and you can buy in confidence knowing that they have also been through a strict process of testing. Although not as rigorous as the Eurograde testing, the AiS are a passionate board determined to give a proper regulation and recognition for secure safes.

You will find that many safes in the £4,000 cash rated range will be AiS approved. If the cash cover is enough for your insurance company then this will save you money as the step up the Eurograde is quite a leap due to the extra testing that the Eurograde safes go through.
