FAQs

1. Delivery Questions

Drop off Only Delivery

• Will the driver place the safe just inside the hallway?

The courier will use a pallet truck to move the safe as close to the doorstep of the property as possible, barring any steps, obstructions, or gravel surfaces.

We have found in our experience, that the driver could place it inside for you if asked on the day. However please note that there is no guarantee they will do so especially if the safe is heavy. If you require a guaranteed delivery inside, email us on sales@allaboutsafes.co.uk and we will look to raise a quote for you.

• My address is a flat/apartment that is accessible by a lift, will they deliver straight to my door?

If a drop off only delivery service is selected, then the courier will not take it straight to your door. Providing that there are no steps or obstructions, they will drop the safe off in the reception/lobby of the building.

• Will the safe be left on the pavement?

Each safe is couriered to the property and depending on the weight, will be carried by hand or on a pallet truck to your doorstep – barring steps, obstructions, or gravel surfaces.

• What time will my safe be delivered?

The safe will be delivered between the standard delivery times 9am – 5pm. For certain safes under 30kg, we offer Pre 12pm or Pre 10:30am delivery services

• Can I request a delivery date?

Safes with a Next working day service available, can be delivered on any weekday (Mon – Fri) if confirmed before 1pm. You can request a date in the delivery notes section on stage 3 of the online checkout process.

If the safe does not have a Next working day service available, please email us on sales@allaboutsafes.co.uk and we will check with the couriers if the requested date is possible.

Installation

• My insurance company has stipulated that the safe needs be installed as per manufacturer guidelines/requirements. What does this mean?

The manufacturer’s guidelines state that the safe must be bolted down into a concrete floor as that is how the security of the safe is tested & certified.

• I do not have a concrete floor to bolt down the safe to or I have underfloor heating, how can I install the safe?

The manufacturer recognises that domestic properties vary greatly and not everyone has access to a suitable concrete floor to bolt down into. Therefore, it is acceptable to bolt down the safe into a wood floor (preferably into a wooden joist for a secure fixing) or into a solid brick wall (where applicable as some safes do not have rear fixing holes available). If you have underfloor heating and the safe does not have any rear fixing holes, we can offer an adhesive fix as a solution. Please note that this method is permanent compared to the above measures, and it would make the safe extremely difficult to relocate should you move house in the future. We would always advise to speak to your insurance company first before proceeding with an adhesive fix.

• Are you able to install this safe into my room on the 1st floor?

It depends on a lot of factors such as safe weight, general access & how the stairs are constructed helps us determine if we can install a safe to any floor. Please email us on sales@allaboutsafes.co.uk and we will look to raise a quote for you.

• Are you able to put the safe on its back and install it facing upwards?

We would advise against doing this. Most safes are not designed to be used like this and continuous misuse may damage the hinges/bolt work overtime.

• Will the installation team remove the skirting board?

The installation team can remove the skirting board prior to installing the safe however this would incur an additional charge. If you wish to enquire about the charge, please contact us on sales@allaboutsafes.co.uk with a photo of the skirting board and a height measurement.

2. Safe Questions

• Can this safe be installed into a wall?

If the product page only states “Suitable for floor fixing” then the safe cannot be installed into a wall.

• Can this safe hold A4 documents lying flat?

A4 paper measures at 210 x 297mm. If the internal dimensions for the safe is bigger than this, then it can hold A4 documents lying flat.

3. Lock Questions

 • Which is better: Key or Electronic locking?

In general, both offer the same level of security, so it comes down to personal preference for lower cash rated safes. If you are terrible with remembering codes, then the key lock would be suitable for you and vice versa.

For higher cash rated safes, the electronic lock can provide additional functionality with more users, a time delay, and manager codes.

• What happens when the batteries are flat?

There are several ways to resolve this problem depending on if the batteries are located within the safe or in the lock. Please check either the safe instructions or the safe specification.

If the batteries are located within the safe:

Some lower cash rated safes are supplied with emergency override keys which can be used to open the safe door. From there the batteries can be swapped out.

If the safe does not have emergency override keys, then the lock may have external battery contacts. A 9V battery can be used to give the lock enough charge to open the door and then change the batteries.

If the batteries are located within the lock:

There will be a battery cover/latch underneath the lock which can be removed to expose the batteries. From there, they can be changed immediately.

• I have forgotten the code; can I still get into my safe?

If the safe does not come supplied with override keys, then an engineer would need to be called out to open the safe. Please contact us on sales@allaboutsafes.co.uk for a quote.

• I have lost my keys; how can I get into my safe?

If you have lost both keys, then an engineer would need to be called out to open the safe and replace the lock with a new key lock. Please contact us on sales@allaboutsafes.co.uk for a quote.
